Safety Instructions

1. Operation Area Control

  1. Robot Work Area: A safety fence that meets industrial standards should be installed around the robot's working area, covering its maximum reach.
  2. Restricted Area: During robot operation, no one should enter the robot’s reachable space to prevent accidental collisions.

2. Telerobotics Operation Safety

  1. Beginner Training: First-time users should familiarize themselves with the mapping between VR device movements and robot motions in a simulation environment.

  2. Smooth Operation: Move VR controllers slowly when practicing to avoid sudden or excessive movements.

  3. Equipment Check: Before each operation, check the battery levels of the VR headset and controllers. Ensure both have at least 20% battery. If below this threshold, charge or replace the batteries.

  4. Handling Visual Anomalies: If the headset display exhibits abnormalities (e.g., flickering, misalignment), immediately stop operation and recalibrate. Never continue operating if the display or controllers are shaking or drifting.

  5. Proper VR Controller Usage: Never randomly drop or swing the VR controllers during operation, as this may cause sudden loss or re-establishment of tracking, leading to unintended robot movements.

    Correct Operation Practices:

    • The VR headset must be properly worn, and the display should remain stable.
    • Hold the VR controllers with both hands and keep them within the headset’s tracking range at all times.
  6. Pre-Synchronization Calibration: Before starting telerobotic synchronization, press and hold the controller’s calibration button to calibrate the display.

  7. Stability During Synchronization: During synchronization, the operator must not move arbitrarily or recalibrate the display. If adjustments are needed, synchronization should be stopped first.

3. Safety Personnel Responsibilities & Emergency Response

  1. Emergency Preparedness: A designated safety officer should be present during telerobotic operations, ready to press the robot's emergency stop button at any time.
  2. No Collision Protection: The system does not provide collision feedback or protection mechanisms. Users must ensure that the robot does not collide with themselves or the environment unintentionally.
